September 2017 Tongariro river Fishing Report

Globugs to fish the Taupo Rivers

20 September 2017

Hope all is good and you haven't been washed away by all this rain. The last few weeks have been busy for us doing more work around the lodge in between landing copious amounts of spawning rainbows .

It is hard to explain what has happened to the Taupo fishery big numbers of fish are constantly heading up the rivers they are also much bigger on average, we are all loving the spawning season. You know things are looking good when dept of conservation have doubled the bag limit to lower the fish numbers.

I would be expecting the Tauranga Taupo and the Tongariro rivers to really fire up for the next 6 weeks so we are going to be spoiled for choice with the Taupo rivers firing and Lake Otamangakau or back country, we have a hard life here in paradise.

We are already seeing a little bit of dry fly action so really looking forward to the next few months.

The fishing this season is going to be unbelievable and we have already had clients missing out on dates due to our calendar getting full so get in early with your BOOKINGS.

Lake Otamangakau is about to open we had a great year last year with clients landing 15 fish over 10lbs and the biggest was 13lbs and a lot of fish around the 9lbs mark, so if you want to target one of these monsters give me a call.
